Barbara Mae Thomas Strikes a Dance Pose in her Front Yard at #4 DancyT/Redell

Barbara Thomas loves to dance (1). Barbara Mae Thomas Age 4-5 Strikes a Dance Pose in her Front Yard at 2117 DancyT/Redell
Photo probably taken by her Mother Stella DeSha Thomas about 1924-25. Stella made all the costumes for the girls including hats, tutus etc. Barbara began dancing very young. When her sister Joan was in Mrs. Bagaley's kindergarten on 7th Street, Barbara was permitted to participate in the little shows because her mother made many costumes for them. Miss Dishman was Barbara's first dance teacher. Eventually Barbara went north to dance with Charles Wiedman. Barbara was Jack in the Jack and Judy stories my Mother (Joan) told us as we grew up. She was called Jack because she was a tomboy. When I was 7 or 8 Barbara showed me how to do a little dance from the Waltz of the Flowers. I still remember it. She told my Mother/Joan/hersister that I would make a good dance because I had such high arches. I became a poet and language artist instead...often with sore arches.
