Corner Eighth and Main, December 1925, Jacksonville, Florida
Organization Page 9: Deacon Brinson McGowan (also the Superintendant of the Vacation Bible School), who lived across the street from the Thomas family on East 6th Street for a few years, later became the Superintendent of the Baptist Home for Children for a number of years. He was known as "Daddy Mac". S.J. Highsmith was on the Finance Committee as was Lacy Mahon's son, J.G. Mahon. It was S.J. Highsmith who came to Lacy Mahon in the early 1920s with the idea for a Baptist orphanage and a offer to donate 8 acres of land he owned on Lem Turner Road.
Note: This is the earliest of the Church directories that was kept or that I have found thus far, and was probably kept by Percy Leon Thomas, Sr. It is interesting to me because it lists the Thomas family at 2117 Dancy Terrace and because ads for Jax area businesses are included.
