1940: MattieV Teacher, Joan Thomas, took and developed this photo of her 4th Grade students in costume for the class production of Sleeping Beauty, the script for which she found in a Wee Wisdom.

Mother (MattieV teacher Joan Thomas) told me that Miss Nellie Cooke, her Principal during the years she taught 4th Grade at MattieV in the late 1930's and 1940s once told her (Joan) that she organized and directed theatrical productions very well and that she (Miss Cooke) wished she could hire her to do just that for the school). Theatre definitely runs in, and not away from, our family.. beginning (so far as we know) with Stella DeSha Thoma, Joan's mother, and continuing on down the line through my daughter Joy, who is in the performing arts. One could say we are all very dramatic.
