The Rev. Thomas Hansen having resigned in January 1950 to return to the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Rev. E.R. White was now Pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church during the celebration of its 50th year. The drawing of the original building, or "shack" at 8th and Main, was the very first Main Street Baptist Church. This was replaced in 1908 by the gray stone structure which served for many many years with various additions.
