If you’ve seen the Road Runner or the Eiger Sanction then you’ve seen the Totem Pole. It’s one of the formations in Monument Valley, Utah. Depending on the light and time of day, you can see the colour of the earth in the clouds. Traversing the Valley in a car, along a beaten, bumpy but beautiful route, you can’t help but wonder what the first people who ran into these formations thought. The rocks are formed by erosion and are the remnants of volcano cones.
