L-R Adults: Percy Leon Thomas, Sr., Stella Anna DeSha Thomas, Harriet Joan Thomas Learn, Glennis Eugene Learn, Sr., and Barbara Mae Thomas Doerffer; children: Glennis Eugene Learn, Jr., Emma Beth Learn and David Thomas Learn In this church both Barbara, Joan and Leon Thomas were married. The last time I was in this church was 1959 for my Grandfather, Percy Leon Thomas' funeral. In the 1960s the church building was demolished and another church was built. That building remains on the corner of 8th and Main Streets today but "church" as a congregation no longer exists. Some of the last members of Main Street are said to have founded the New Berlin Baptist Church but I have not been able to find any church archives or records. Alex Doerffer, Barbara's husband, may have taken this picture, or Jessie Thomas Morgan, Percy's younger sister who began living with the family at DancyT. Jessie taught briefly at 10th and Market Elementary School and was the last member in the Thomas family to remain actively involved in the Main Street Baptist Church.
